Calling every squash club on Planet Earth:
BACK THE BID ON WORLD SQUASH DAY

You can back the bid to get squash into the 2020 Olympics by joining in on World Squash Day.
  • Date: Saturday 20th October  2012
  • Venue: Every squash club in the world
  • Format: 20-a-side: Two teams of 20 players (more or fewer is fine!)
  • Team Names: Team Squash v Team 2020
  • Global: Each team will be part of a global match between the teams
  • Format: Each individual match between team members is one game, first to 20 points (Point a Rally, sudden death)
  • Result: At the end of the day, your result (eg 20-0, 10-all) will count towards the overall global score.

TARGET:

Our target is to make headlines around the world to Back The Bid for Squash to be included in the 2020 Olympics. To do that we need to have thousands of players joining in on the day. Not only will it be the biggest squash match in history, we want to make it the biggest-ever sports match in history.

PRIZES:

We will have prizes for the best event(s) on the day – details to follow.

FAQ: MORE OR LESS? What if you are a big club and can field more than 20-a-side? Yes, go ahead and field as many players as you like. What if we are a small club and can only raise 5-a-side? Yes, go ahead and register. Your score will still count towards the global total. Can we hold other activities on the day to promote the game? Yes, of course! Involve everyone in the club. Include all ages and abilities. Throw open the doors and invite new members. Hold free coaching clinics and fun events. Make sure you finish with a 2020 Party! WHAT TO WEAR? Go to the WSD Store and order your Back the Bid and World Squash Day merchandise ! ON THE DAY: Register your result on the WSD Results Page, it will go to the global score. Also, upload news and pictures, plus the result - directly on the site or on the WSD Facebook page. PUBLICITY: Let your local papers know, plus local TV, radio and local news websites. Put posters up everywhere you can. Please make sure your neighbouring clubs are taking part as well. The more players who take part, the more we hope to catch the eye of the IOC.
